About

Hi! I'm Jess.

I take pictures and help people and brands connect to their unique story. But, if you've found yourself here, then I guess you probably already know that. So, what else can I tell you about me?

I was born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Attended the University of MN for Communications. And, after spending 8 years working in various communications and marketing departments for government and nonprofits, I decided to quit punching the time-clock and set out on my own.

I started my own communications and marketing business in 2016 and have since helped entrepreneurs, businesses, and brands tell their stories through photography, print marketing, online marketing and social media. In 2018 I found a deep love for storytelling through photography and made the decision to put all of my professional efforts into helping people tell their real-life, true, powerful tales of passion, hard work, sacrifice, joy, heartache, and LOVE through beautiful images and storytelling.

Two years ago, my family and I moved from our 2000 square foot house into a 35 foot motorhome (affectionately named Walter) where we lived, worked, and explored the western part of the country for the better part of 2018. Did I ever imagine that I’d do life with my husband, 4-year-old son, and two dogs in 250 square feet? Nope! But, the experience was truly remarkable and I believe changed the trajectory of our lives forever. If you’re curious about more there, we documented our travels and our tiny-living experience at Life on Larson and on Instagram.

Since then, we have moved back into an adorable little sticks and bricks house in the Como Neighborhood of St. Paul and have been re-acclimating to land life again. It’s been wonderful to be back in the Twin Cities and amongst friends, family and some of our favorite restaurants (did I mention we have a bit of an obsession with food?). Our tiny living experience definitely changed us and the way we look at the world. I highly recommend shaking things up every once in a while to see what falls out. ;)

I want nothing more than to live the hell out of this life and to do so from the most aligned and intentional place possible. When I don’t have a camera in my hand, you’ll often find me playing with my husband and kiddo, cooking up something yummy in the kitchen, laughing my pants off with my favorite humans, exploring a mountain or a beach somewhere, hopping a plane for a new adventure, or onstage singing with my band the Riverside Hitmen.

My favorite thing about being a photographer and marketing consultant is the way it gives me space to sit back and observe. How it allows me to notice human connection and behavior. Those micro-moments that are easy to miss, if you aren’t paying attention. How eyes meet in knowing glances that say a million words without ever speaking a single one. When a laugh creates that crinkle at the top of a nose. Or the way little hands swipe cookies off the tops of counters. The stuff of real life. The magic in the in-between.

I would love nothing more than to get to know you. Let’s meet! Maybe I’m your person, maybe I’m not. But, I’d love the opportunity to find out. Let’s see if we can make some magic together.

Cheers!
